Formerly an old nursery school, La Vieja Escuela (The Old School) has been updated, but still maintains the old charm of yesteryear with up to date amenities for today’s world.
Locals call this type of apartment a "casita", we call it a "couple's oasis". Tucked behind the main house and next to another casita is this one bedroom apartment boasting a kitchenette, 20" stove, cable TV, Wi-Fi, queen bed and a renovated salt water pool.
The Cottage at Vieja Escuela is a great way for a couple or two to share this space without breaking the bank. The entire complex has close to 100 years' worth of character to boast, but with that character come little door creaks and not-so-perfect walls and gives the property its charm and why some guests opt to rent our place instead of a lifeless hotel room. We take pride in making our place look nice and inviting and hope you feel the same when staying at one of our apartments.
NOTE: There is a small studio next to the cottage and both are detached from the main house. They are all short-term rentals.
Common areas are the pool, patio and laundry room which will be shared with other guests staying on the property.
We make the occasional visit, but Arthur "Skip" Kelter, can be called upon should a situation arise. He's the one to call for questions, issues and concerns. I can also be reached via cell or email.
Old Northwood Village (check our their website) is walking distance from the house and we always enjoy perusing the small shops and eateries.
Our favorite coffee shop on South Olive Ave. is Aioli, their pastries and breakfast sandwiches are delicious. We always enjoy going to Restoration Hardware located on Okeechobee Blvd. is a big source of inspiration and also a great place to grab a bite to eat on the fifth floor. Walks in City Place are always great to people watch and go sight seeing with the great selection of shops.
Renting bikes at The Palm Beach Bicycle Trail Shop is a fun activity to do with the family. The shop is located in the Poinciana Plaza (50 Cocoanut Row Suite 117, Palm Beach.
Sight seeing and window shopping in Worth Ave, is a must for avid shoppers. They also have some of the best restaurants in the area (our favorite is Buccan).
A 2 minute drive to Rybovich Marina is a good place to grab lunch and a chance to see the beautiful yachts.
A car is recommended. Old Northwood is walking distance and downtown is about 1.2 miles away. Public transportation does not pass by the house, but you can always Uber.
COVID-19 Update. We take great pride in making our guests feel safe during their stay. All of our linens and bedding are washed even if not used by the previous guests. Bathrooms and kitchens are sanitized.
We want to make your stay a memorable one, but we need your help to be the best hosts. Please contact us with any issues, concerns. All suggestions are highly encouraged.
