Formerly an old nursing school, La Vieja Escuela (The Old School) has been updated, but still maintains the old charm of yesteryear with up-to-date amenities for today’s world. A pool that was converted to saltwater will keep you refreshed, the gas grill and 6 burners professional Thermador stove will help you cater and the landscaped greenery will give you privacy during your stay. La Vieja Escuela will feel like your home away from home and have you coming back year after year. The home is decorated in Spanish-style decor. The furnishings have been meticulously hand-picked to give the right ambiance and make your stay a memorable one. Please keep in mind that our house is close to 100 years old, full of charm and character, but with those great qualities come some squeaky doors/floors and other imperfections that make the house unique. NOTE: The main house has two detached cottages that are also short-term rentals. Common areas are the pool, patio and laundry room which are shared with other guests. The front of the house is exclusive to guests staying in the main house. We don't live in the area, but we can be reached via text or email. A trusted next-door neighbor will serve as co-host and can answer any questions, issues or concerns that may arise. The Old Northwood Historic District is a U.S. historic district located in West Palm Beach, Florida. The district between 26th and 35th Streets. It contains 320 historic buildings Old Northwood Village (visit their website) is walking distance from the house and we always enjoy perusing the small shops and eateries. Our favorite coffee shop on South Olive Ave. is Aioli, their pastries and breakfast sandwiches are delicious. We always enjoy going to Restoration Hardware located on Okeechobee Blvd. is a big source of inspiration and also a great place to grab a bite to eat on the fifth floor. Walks in City Place are always great to people watch and go sight seeing with the great selection of shops. Renting bikes at The Palm Beach Bicycle Trail Shop is a fun activity to do with the family. The shop is located in the Poinciana Plaza (50 Cocoanut Row Suite 117, Palm Beach. Sightseeing and window shopping in Worth Ave is a must for avid shoppers. They also have some of the best restaurants in the area (our favorite is Buccan). A 2-minute drive to Rybovich Marina is a good place to grab lunch and a chance to see the beautiful yachts. A car is recommended to get around. The downtown area is a mile away and beach is 3 miles away. Old Northwood shops are only 6 streets away so this will be a short walk. There are great restaurants and shops in Old Northwood. COVID-19 Update. We take great pride in making our guests feel safe during their stay. All of our linens and bedding are washed even if not used by the previous guests. Bathrooms and kitchens are sanitized. The pool has been converted to salt water which is much better for the skin.
